Treat yourself to the very best of nature during the Bright Autumn Festival. Come visit this bustling town nestled in the beautiful Ovens Valley only a few hours from Melbourne.
The Bright Autumn Festival is a ten-day feast for the eyes, the tastebuds and the soul surrounded by autumn colours and local produce of the valleys of Victoria’s Alpine High Country. From Friday, April 24 to Sunday, May 3rd 2020, it’s harvest time, and you can choose from walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, apples and blackberries and experience a cooking demo at the Nut Festival.
There are plenty of things to see and do: from 17 Open Gardens in the town and surrounding areas to the wineries, orchards, and restaurants featuring local produce.
For those keen to take home their own autumn beauty, at Wandiligong there is a glorious avenue of Linden (lime) Trees and you can buy a Linden of your own from one of the many producers of this beautiful tree in the town.
One of the best places to situate yourself in Bright is at the Autumn Beauty Cottages, just a 10-minute level walk to town and situated adjacent to the famous Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. The surrounding mountains form a gorgeous backdrop to the dazzling colours of autumn foliage in the town. And the cottage wrap-round, covered verandas, provide the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the views.
If you’ve enjoyed some of the fine tasting food, boutique beers and botanical gin in town and need to walk it off before the next bout, there are plenty of beautiful walking paths along the river and through the golden avenues.
For those keen to see things from two wheels the Rail Trail bike track at your doorstep extends from Bright to Wangaratta but for less ambitious journeys, you can reach noted wineries such as River Reef and Feathertop or out to the famous Wandiligong pub just a few kilometres away.
For over 50 years the town has hosted the popular Autumn Art Exhibition at the Bright Art Gallery
If you’re a keen photographer or just want to capture some of the beauty around you, there are locals who host workshops to help you locate and capture those perfect images of the natural beauty
On Saturday, May 2nd, The Autumn Festival culminates in the Gala Weekend; with a market, music in the streets and a grand parade. The festival program and more details can be found at https://www.brightautumnfestival.org.au.
