1. Tomahawks, 15 Camp Street Bright
Rated the #1 restaurant in Bright on Tripadvisor, Tomahawks also tops our list. Whether you’re after some tasty share plates or a fancy cocktail with friends, Tomahawks delivers in spades. Creative and delicious fare, excellent vibe and no booking required – easy to see why it’s a favourite for locals and visitors alike! Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Tip: Try the bánh mì x prawn toast!

2. Dr Mauve Bar & Lounge, 100 Gavan Street Bright
With Asian-inspired share plates to die for, five beer taps, a craft fridge, a unique cocktail list and lots of intimate dining nooks to settle into, you can’t go wrong with Dr Mauve. Snazzy and slightly kooky, the funky décor is joyful and the service is top-notch. Easy to see why it’s one of the best places to eat and drink around Bright! Closed Wednesdays and Thursdays, otherwise open 4pm until late.
Tip: Go for the Feed Me menu, too many tasty dishes to choose from!

3. Sir Loins Bar and Grill, 14 Barnard Street Bright
More than just a steakhouse, Sir Loin’s serves top quality cuts from across Australia – think 100% grass-fed Scotch Fillet, Bass Strait Porterhouse and Phoenix Wagyu Sirloin. With a fancy fit-out and a great selection of local wines, craft beers and cocktails, Sir Loin’s is the perfect date-night venue. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, otherwise open 5pm until late.
Tip: If your date is a carnivore and you’re up for sharing, tuck into the 1kg+ New York Sir Loin on the bone.

4. 5 Acres Bar and Kitchen, 11 White Star Road Wandiligong
A scenic ride through rolling farmland from Bright will take you into Wandi, and the stunning country setting of 5 Acres. Take a seat inside, on the verandah or in the gazebo, or grab a picnic rug and kick back in the beautiful garden with a local shiraz while the kids hack away at mini golf. With a fresh and tasty seasonal menu showcasing local produce, 5 Acres food will impress just as much as the picturesque surrounds. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, otherwise open 11am-5pm.
Tip: Go for trout. Either the whole baked Harrietville variety or the orange and vodka cured sashimi.

5. The Punka Pub, 13 Nicholson St Porepunkah
A short bike ride from Bright will take you to Porepunkah’s crowning jewel, the Punka Pub. Recycled wine barrels, sandblasted brickwork and rough-sawn timber beams have been used to create a warm, welcoming space, whether you’re seated outside or indoors by the roaring fire. An excellent selection of beers and cocktails on tap pair well with fresh, seasonal gastro-pub fare, as well as classics and family-friendly options. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Tip: Try the smokey pork belly with apple slaw.

6. The Wandi Pub, 580 Morses Creek Rd Wandiligong
Stunning mountain views from the expansive shady garden provide a brilliant backdrop to the mouth-watering food served up from The Wandi Pub’s kitchen. And with nine taps of Australia’s best craft beers and ciders, as well as a carefully curated wine list and lip-smacking cocktails, it’s easy to see why it’s been voted the Best Regional Pub in Victoria. It’s also been voted one of the top five live music venues in regional Victoria, so time your visit for a jam session! Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

7. Elm Dining + The Yard Bright, 98 Gavan Street Bright
The heritage Victorian cottage housing Elm Dining + The Yard is one of Bright’s most iconic locations, having stood proud for over 100 years. Refurbished and extended with traditional charm, it’s fine dining all the way at Elm, with inventive dishes inspired by the seasons and fresh local produce. The Yard offers South American style share plates and quick bites along with cheeky cocktails and local wines, and has a more upbeat relaxed vibe. Closed for skiing, reopening in September.
Tip: Try the tasting menu at Elm for a delicious series of delicate treats.

8. Hometown, 5 Camp Street Bright
If you like really good pizza, then this is your place. Hometown’s traditional Neapolitan-ish style pizza is all about the dough, cold fermented for a minimum of 48hrs, hand stretched, wood fired & charred to perfection. Tasty starter plates, a solid selection of cocktails and beers and a great courtyard for balmy summer evenings round out the offering. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise open 5pm until late. Walk-ins only.
Tip: Go ‘Local’… pancetta, Wandi apple, chestnut, scamorza, brussels and watercress. Delish.

9. Sole e Luna, 106 Gavan Street Bright
Serving a large range of traditional Italian dishes with a modern twist, every dish at Sole e Luna – from the pasta to the Tiramisu – is made onsite from fresh regional produce. Their kids menu is also guaranteed to keep the little tackers happy. Enjoy a glass or two of Alpine and King Valley wines year round in the heated all-weather courtyard. And if you really love your pasta, you can learn how to make it in a pasta class with the Master of Pasta himself, owner Frank Martinez.
Tip: Try their signature dish, home-made wild mushroom tagliatelle.

10. Katsu Japanese Restaurant, 9 Barnard Street Bright
From traditional Teriyaki Chicken and Pork Katsu Curry to Miso Salmon and delectable Sticky Eggplant, you’ll love the fresh and tasty treats on offer at this sublime Japanese restaurant. Katsu is currently only operating for take-away, but open 7 days for lunch and dinner.
Tip: Their Karaage fried chicken is next level!
